The initial idea of this website comes from the fact that books on shells is too dear to an average conchologist especially when he or she needs many kinds of atlas to satisfy the never ending interest in conchology

At the beginning I commenced this website aiming to provide free resource to all conchologists, something that is similar to the paper publications in functions.  However, shortly after the first weeks of construction, I was convinced that we could do much more other than offering free digital books. The functions with the internet are amazing, which is far beyond what a book can play.

We can exhibit the world’s every specie with the input from conchlogists all over the word. That’s more, the immense digital space here enable us to display the different subspecies, different forma, and even different origins and pattern within a specie.  If you like, every specimen can be illustrated with pictures of different view. We can display living pictures also

We provide powerful search engine.  You can search by Family, Genus, Species, Author, Years of Nomination, Location, Habitat, or combination of any above items.

 

C) Interact and mutual-benefit

The website is open to all conchologists.  After registration, you are entitled to upload information or give comments on the areas are familiar to (the shells in your location, the shell family that you have study intensively, etc). 

Think about “Wikipedia”, the famous free encyclopedia shared online. We can make the same, less vast in scopes but more focused.  Everyone will be benefited from your work and you will definitely enjoy the informative and interactive gathering as a conchlogist.
